Alcohol Ink Art Virtual Conference WINTER 2018

We are happy to open up access to all the presentations, demos and resources from our first-ever Alcohol Ink Art Conference, for a limited time only. 

This will be an all-day event with sessions spread across the course of the day.   Each session will be presented by our superb line-up of alcohol ink artists and instructors and cover a wide variety of instruction and coaching pertaining to creating and promoting alcohol ink art.  During each session, our presenters will be available for questions and answers in real time during their session.

Your post-event registration gives you:

  • Full access to each session’s presentation and materials with the ability to ask questions in our private Conference Facebook group. 
  • Membership to our private AIAC Winter 2018 Facebook group for extended interaction and networking with other attendees and presenters.
  • Lifetime access to recordings and all conference materials, including downloads, materials lists, eBooks, etc.

Once you register, you will get access to all the materials which are hosted here on the website.  See the list of sessions below.  You will also be able to watch all the recorded videos and access all the resources here in one location.   Additionally, all of the recordings and resources are available on the private Facebook group for the conference where you can interact and engage with other attendees.

Introduction to Alcohol Ink

Level: Beginner

This session is both a primer for those attendees brand new to alcohol ink and those who may be interested in a refresher. An overview of working with alcohol inks, what works and what doesn’t.  This presentation will provide an introduction to alcohol ink, acceptable substrates, basic techniques and the basics of sealing your alcohol ink art. 

Light and Shadows; Add Values to your Paintings

Level: Intermediate and Advanced
Presenter: Sheryl Williams

Discover the secret to realistic painting!  Value does all the work and color gets all the glory. The illusion of light is created through values with highlights and shadows. Learn to use a gray scale to identify values, create a value study, paint a range of values with your inks, and apply what you have learned to a simple painting.

Creating a Majestic Golden Sky Expressive Landscape 

Level: Intermediate
Presented by: Alexis Bonavitacoloa

This piece incorporates both Tim Holtz Alcohol Inks as well as Jacquard Pinata Alcohol Inks and showcases the beauty of adding metallic colors to your paintings.Allowing the paints to both flow magically on their own as well as with a little coaxing with canned air can create richly textured landscapes. 

Creating An Abstract Wave Painting on Glass – Using Art Resin

Level:  Intermediate
Presenter:  Kellie Chasse

Kellie has been working with Art Resin for 3+ years now and has learned many tips and mistakes in creating with the wonderfully scary at first medium. We will cover her favorite substrates to use Art resin on and her Top mistakes she has learned. There is also a full online demo of how to create a Wave using Art Resin.

Mastering Social Media for Artists – Facebook & Instagram

Level:  Intermediate and Advanced
Presenter:  Laurie “Trumpet” Williams

This session provides direction, best practices and some great secrets to give you a leg-up and promote your art brand. You will learn best practices for optimizing your Facebook and Instagram marketing, in order to build your audience and effectively promote your art brand. 

How to create a Contemporary Collage – The Basics

Level: Beginner to Intermediate
Presenter:  Jane Monteith

This presentation provides discussion and details surrounding the components of creating a successful collage. Information regarding composition, colours, tools, materials and tips for best results will be covered in this course.

Get Lit with Alcohol Ink Lights

Level: Beginner to Intermediate
Presenter:  Denise Johnson

This project demonstrates making a beautiful light using just a few simple materials. Watch while a lowly piece of paper towel is transformed into a beautiful piece of functional art. This light will spread a bright and striking glow in a darkened room. Even in daylight, this unique one of a kind light will be a conversation piece. If you already create with alcohol inks, you’ll probably have most of the items you need.This project is for anyone that just wants to have some crafty fun!

Alcohol Inks & Mixed Media Flowering Imagination

Level: Intermediate
Presenter: Francine Dufour Jones

This workshop explores mixing alcohol inks with other mediums on different surfaces. Magic happens when we mix alcohol ink with other mediums and apply these to different surfaces. It’s playtime! Learn how to corral the shimmering colors and create vibrant, enchanting images. Give yourself to the magic, explore dimensions of color with limitless possibilities. Everyone is welcome to play and create here.

Creating Alcohol Ink Art with Dip Pens

Level: Intermediate

This presentation demonstrates a unique way of painting with alcohol ink using dip pens (or calligraphy pens).  In this session, you will learn how to create fun paintings with traditional calligraphy pens, both abstract elements and detail.

Alexis Bonavitacola is an alcohol ink art instructor and founding member of the Alcohol Ink Art Community.  Her art captures energy, movement, and flow, and creates a sense of wonder. Alexis is a master abstract artist and nurturing instructor.   Her art features strategic layering and blending  of colors and mediums to create art that is magical.

Sheryl Williams resides in Delta, BO and  is an alcohol ink artist and instructor and a founding member of the Alcohol Ink Art Community.  She loves to teach and leans towards the controlled realistic style. She began painting in 2011 starting with watercolor and later adding alcohol ink.  She has taught hundreds of students worldwide.

Sharen AK Harris

Sharen AK Harris

Alcohol Ink Artist & Instructor

Sharen AK Harris was born an artist in Lynn Ma 1953. She is an alcohol ink artist, instructor and a founding member of the Alcohol Ink Art Community.  Sharen is a self-taught artist for the most part but was influenced by outstanding art instructors throughout her life. Sharen received her certification with the National Society of Decorative Painters.  Sharen is proficient in several mediums and uses each skillfully to achieve the poetic romanticism which she is known for.

Francine Dufour Jones is an alcohol ink artist, instructor and founding contributor of the Alcohol Ink Art Community.  In addition to alcohol ink, Francine works in several other mediums such as acrylics, oils, digital art and silk painting. Francine teaches art classes, both in person in Alaska and online.

Jane Monteith, has been working as an artist for over 10+ years. Originally from England, she moved to Canada in 1981. Jane found and started working with alcohol ink several years ago when she realized they offered the same colour vibrancy as screening inks. She is an International selling artist and works full-time creating colourful contemporary designs and sharing knowledge through her YouTube Channel. Jane has also joined the Alcohol Ink Art Community as a contributor in 2018!

Denise Johnson is an alcohol ink artist and instructor from Wisconsin.  She is also a founding contributor for the Alcohol Ink Art Community. She has been an artist on some level for her entire life.  She is inspired by her housemates which include dogs, cats, chickens… and her husband. She works primarily on Corian.  Denise is the the author of the eBook, Selling Your Art at Art & Craft Shows.
