Alcohol Ink Technique – Quick Flowers or Iris (Eyes)

The following alcohol ink art technique video by Jane Monteith demonstrates a quick and easy technique for creating flowers or Iris of an eye with alcohol ink and mixative on a fan brush.

 

Materials Used in this demonstration include:

  • Jacquard® Alcohol Ink
  • Jacquard® Gold Mixative
  • Fan brush or cosmetic brush
  • Yupo Paper, Tile or your favorite alcohol ink substrate

Questions from viewers…

How do you clean the brush afterwards?
Jane:  A bit of dawn and baking soda, same as with my hands. Massage and rinse. Repeat until clear.

What is the name of the brush you use, Jane?
Jane:  No idea what it’s called, but it was a makeup brush from Sephora. #65, here’s a picture.

A watercolor fan brush will work, as well.

What are the colors used in this demo?
Jane: Baja Blue, sun bright yellow and rich gold. All by Jacquard
