Alcohol Ink Artist and Instructor
Jane Monteith has been working as an artist for over 10+ years. Originally from England, she moved to Canada in 1981. While she took advertising and marketing in college, she changed direction to pursue her passion for art as a career in her thirties. A self-taught artist, she began working with screening inks and painting school mascot designs on vinyl mats for hundreds of schools across Ontario. Jane found and started working with alcohol ink several years ago when she realized they offered the same colour vibrancy as screening inks. She is an International selling artist and works full-time creating colourful contemporary designs and sharing knowledge through her YouTube Channel.

Where / what is your favorite place/source for inspiration?
I find inspiration mainly online. Pinterest is a great source of creativity and a place to create mood boards.
What colors are you drawn to most and how does it affect you?
I’m drawn to pink/purple colour combinations and well as teal/blue. Add some metallics and I’m golden! They affect me positively. Bright bold colours lift spirit and mood.
If you could choose an imaginary friend, who/what would you choose and why?
My imaginary friend would be me, only 50 years older. She could tell me the things she’s learned over the course of my life and what I should or shouldn’t do to continue leading a happy and fulfilling life. Nobody knows you better than yourself!
If you woke up tomorrow as an animal, what animal would you choose to be and why?
If I woke up tomorrow I would be a bird. I could fly high above the trees for miles and miles and overlook the beauty of the earth.
Would you consider yourself an introvert or extrovert?
I’m an introvert!
